Video star: Lady Gaga captured on set during the cover and editorial shoot for the September issue of Vanity Fair
Lady Gaga's star just keeps on rising. The 24-year-old scored 13 MTV Video Music Award nominations today, the most-ever received by any artist in a single year.
'I'm so honoured for all the little monsters and self-professed freaks of the universe, to have more VMA nominations in a single year than any artist in MTV history,' Gaga said after hearing the news.
'Ironically, I'm even more proud it's an unlucky number: 13.'
She added: 'A long time ago the world told me and my little monsters we would never be heard, together we changed the rules. God put me on Earth for three reasons: To make loud music, gay videos and cause a damn raucous. Thank you, MTV!'
The star, known for her crazy outfits and dramatic performances, was nominated for Best Pop Video, Best Dance Music Video, Best Female Video and Best Choreography for her hit single, Bad Romance among others categories
She's also nominated for the Best Collaboration for her hit, Telephone, featuring Beyoncé and both Bad Romance and Telephone are also up for Best Choreography and Video of the Year.
Although she's bound to win something, Gaga is facing some stiff competition from her fellow artists. Katy Perry's California Gurls is also nominated for Best Female Video.

Eminem racked up an impressive eight VMA nominations, including Best Male Video, and Video of the Year for Not Afraid.
In the newcomers category, both Florence + The Machine and B.o.B. are up for five awards each while Ke$ha's up for three.
The VMAs is the event Britney Spears chose for her infamously disastrous comeback appearance in 2007.
Currently working on a new album, the eccentric Gaga has sold over 15 million albums and 40 million singles to date and is the world's most popular living person with regards to social networking with over five million Twitter followers and 10 million Facebook fans.

Her personal life also recently took a turn for the better as she reconciled with her boyfriend Luc Carl.
She reportedly first dated Carl a few years ago but recently got back together with him.
A source said to U.S. magazine People: 'Gaga's first album is entirely about their relationship and her latest song, You and I, is about how they got back together.
They've been in love for a while.'
The VMA awards will be screened live from the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, September 12th.
