Skinny: Angelina Jolie's long black BCBG Max Azria dress did little to conceal her thin figure and couldn't hide her protruding shoulder blades and skinny arms
She's never been the curviest of actresses, but Angelina Jolie looked skinner than ever as she arrived at the Berlin premiere of Salt.
The 35-year-old actress chose a long black BCBG Max Azria dress to conceal her tiny figure, but couldn't hide her protruding shoulder blades and painfully thin arms in the halterneck number.
And even her dramatic black stone necklace did little to detract from her noticeably skinny figure.
What a difference: Angelina looked noticeably thinner than she did at the Golden Globes in January 2009
It is not the first time Angelina has been criticised for being too thin.
In 2007, the mother-of-six spoke about the criticism, and said any weight loss was down to the death of her mother Marcheline Betrand.
She said: 'I've always been lean and this year I lost my mom and I've gone through a lot.
'Instead of people saying I look like a person dealing with something emotionally, they assume it's because I want to fit into skinny jeans.
Jutting: Angelina's protruding bones on her neck and shoulders could clearly be seen as she talked to press
'Someone saying to me that I'm thin is not a compliment.'
The actress also lose weight while training for her role as Evelyn Salt in Salt, the story of a CIA Agent accused of being a Russian spy.
According to the film's stunt co-ordinator Simon Crane, Jolie learned 'a combination of Muay Thai and Krav Maga' martial arts, and trained for two hours a day, four times a week, in preparation for the action-packed fight sequences in the film.
Protruding: Angelina adjusts her dress as she signs autographs for fans at the Berlin premiere
Bony: The backless dress highlighted Angelina's skinny figure and thin arms
Jolie is currently on a European tour promoting her new film, and is accompanied by her two-year-old twins Vivienne Marcheline and Knox Leon, while partner Brad Pitt looks after their other four children.
Meanwhile, it has been claimed Jolie and Pitt are in the middle of designing a clothing line for children, the profits of which will be donated to their charity the Jolie-Pitt Foundation.
And it's not the first time the pair have pooled their creative talents, having previously designed a jewellery line for Asprey, with proceeds going to The Education Partnership for Children of Conflict.
Lady in blue: Earlier in the day Angelina opted for a blue Elie Saab dress as she attended a photocall

Kelly Brook is a goddess in gold as she FINALLY puts some clothes on for Piranha 3D premiere

It's a cover up! Kelly Brook headed off for the Hollywood premiere of her new film Piranha 3D today
Kelly Brook put her 'naked month' temporarily on hold today for the LA premiere of her new film Pirahana 3D.
The brunette bombshell, who has jumped at every opportunity to take her clothes off of late, covered up in a dramatic gold gown for the Hollywood affair.
But there was still plenty of skin on show - the full length dress was slashed to the thigh and featured a plunging neckline.
Earlier in the day, Kelly went to the gym with her personal trainer for a workout to ensure she was in the best shape possible for the red carpet do at Grauman's Chinese Theatre.
Kelly, the face of Reebok, was fully decked out in the sports label's clothes, and was even wearing the Reebok RunTone trainers, a new version of the EasyTones she promotes.
Of course - these days her bare form is her fortune.
It takes a lot of work to look like this! Kelly went to the gym with her personal trainer today ahead of the red carpet event
She has just posed nude for Love magazine in nothing more than a fluffy shawl protecting what was left of her modesty.
The cover shoot followed her naked appearances in Playboy magazine and a Reebok ad.
Kelly decided to fully shed her inhibitions in honour of her film Piranha 3D - which is released today.
It sees her taking her clothes off and enjoy a steamy moment underwater.
She also shares a lesbian kiss underwater with porn actress Riley Steele.
Naked ambition: Kelly stripped off for the latest issue of Love magazine
Now that's a way to stop traffic: Kelly posed nude - again - for a Reebok trainer campaign earlier this month
Speaking at the Breakthrough of the Year Awards in Los Angeles, she said: 'Having this movie coming out where I get to make out underwater with a porn star naked, I just thought "why not just embrace it and make this month my naked month where everything I do is naked?".'
She actually was criticised for appearing in a bikini in nearly all of her scenes.
But she said she was happy to show off her figure in the film as she knows her curvy shape will not last.
She added: 'If people want to cast me in roles for my body or how I look, I’m just doing to embrace that because that’s not going to be the case forever.
'It doesn’t make me any less important than anyone else in the movie just because I’m in a bikini. That’s just the role I play. It’s as much a part of the story as the piranhas and everything else.'

Honeytrapped! Policeman needs 'Swat' team after he's trapped in patrol car by 50,000 bees

'Bee' careful: The expert beekeeper carefully calms the bees down and removes them from the car with Deputy Jenkins trapped inside
Talk about a 'sting' operation.
A U.S. policeman was forced to hide out in his patrol car for three hours after he was surrounded by 50,000 angry bees.
The insects had escaped from a crashed lorry on a highway in North Carolina yesterday morning.
When Sheriff's deputy Brandon Jenkins was called to the scene, he was horrified to find that its cargo had been 60 boxes of honey bees.
His visit was ill-timed - he showed up just after the sun had risen and roused the sleeping insects from their night's rest.
They promptly swarmed his car, forcing him to leap inside and radio for help.
Tens of thousands of the tiny creatures covered the vehicle as he waited for beekeeping experts to be tracked down by the police.
The beekeepers eventually managed to calm the bees down using smoke - but not before Jenkins had to kill a few bees who found their way into the car.
'It was more or less self-defense. There were a couple of bees in my personal space, my comfort zone, and I just wanted to get them out,' he explained.

I'm no bad boy! 'Super' Mario Balotelli claims he's just a pussycat at heart

Making friends: Balotelli has been on the charm offensive since his arrival at Eastlands
Professionalism, endeavour and humility are the three words Mario Balotelli has engraved on the gold pendant that hangs from his neck.
'It was a present from my mother,' he explained yesterday after being unveiled as Manchester City's latest signing.
His mother clearly knows him well, because Balotelli's past would suggest that he needs to be reminded to follow what reads like a code on a daily basis.
Having spent two years with him at Inter Milan, Jose Mourinho certainly wouldn't associate the young Italy striker with such qualities. Mourinho considered him unmanageable.
'I can't educate him,' the new manager of Real Madrid said after last season's Champions League semi-final against Barcelona. His former team-mates at the San Siro have not been terribly complimentary either.
After throwing his shirt to the ground at the end of that particular European encounter, having clashed with supporters during his brief spell as a substitute, Balotelli was branded 'a child' with 'mental problems' by Dejan Stankovic.
By then he had already clashed with Marco Materazzi in the tunnel. As the 20-year-old demonstrated yesterday, he can display a bit of an attitude.
Belief: The time they spent together in Italy persuaded Balotelli to hook up with Mancini once again
The inevitable questions about his chequered history were met with a flat refusal to discuss the issue. 'He's not my coach any more so I don't want to discuss him,' he said in response to Mourinho's comments, which, while true, rather missed the point.
For the most part inside the cramped media room at City's Carrington training base, Balotelli spoke in Italian. But he understands English and, before explaining the origin of his pendant, he showed off his language skills on one other occasion.
'I am not a bad boy,' he said with a wry smile. It's fair to say he didn't come across as much of a hellraiser as he dined in one of Manchester's better restaurants on Sunday night.
Having sat a few tables away, this observer noted only the stunning young lady who appeared to be his girlfriend. But his arrival has been met with the obvious concerns, and questions that could yet be levelled at Roberto Mancini.
Debut boy: Balotelli made his full international debut just days before switching to the Premier League
If Craig Bellamy has been dispatched to Cardiff because of his divisive nature, it does seem a little strange to replace one controversial figure with another.
But Mancini seems to think he can succeed where Mourinho failed and enjoy a good relationship with the precociously gifted striker.
City's manager said Mourinho's assessment of Balotelli - he once famously gave him 'a zero' for a performance - was 'unfair'.
'I know Mario and I don't think I will have a problem with him,' he said. 'I worked with him for a year and I didn't have any problems with him. I think it was unfair (what Mourinho said) because he's a young guy and we all make mistakes when we are young guys.
'But he has everything to be one of the best players in the world. He can grow as a player and he can grow as a man, and I hope, while he can make us better, we can make him better.'
Tight-lipped: The Italian striker declined to talk about his former manager Jose Mourinho
Yesterday Balotelli received the support of Carlo Ancelotti, and, while the Chelsea manager was never likely to side with Mourinho, his views are worth noting.
Ancelotti spoke of Balotelli's 'physical and technical strength', describing him as 'a great player' who is already 'adapted to the Premier League'. He then said he would help ensure that City are 'ready to fight for first place'.
Balotelli just seemed pleased to be in England; a fresh start after a difficult end to his time at Inter and a chance to escape the racist abuse that sadly remains an issue in Italian football.
'As far as I know there is no racism in English football,' he said. 'But there were two or three incidents in Italy that were bad. I hope I don't have them again.
'I decided I wanted to leave Inter after the Champions League game against Barcelona, though. Every day the papers in Milan were full of stories and it became difficult to live there.
'I had no real problems with my team-mates but outside influences persuaded me to leave.' He insisted City were his first choice.
'The reason I wanted to be here was because of the manager,' he said. 'He always showed faith in me when I played for him and if Roberto wasn't here I probably wouldn't have come to City.
'But it's also a good environment for me to improve and, as I said, I am not a bad boy. They say this in Italy but I am just a normal guy.
I think I will fit in here because the Premier League is ideal for a striker, certainly compared to Italy where it is more tactical.'
He did, however, make a point of reminding his audience that he remains a young man. 'Mistakes can always occur,' he said. They undoubtedly will but recognising a need to avoid them amounts to a good start.

Move over Fred Flintstone: The human-powered car that can reach speeds of up to 60mph

[starttext]
Crank it up: The HumanCar Imagine PS can reach speeds of up to 60mph and is powered by people 'rowing' as well as a back-up electric battery
It looks like the kind of vehicle you would see Fred Flinstone driving around Bedrock, but this hand-powered hybrid car can reach speeds of up to 60mph and keep you fit at the same time.
The HumanCar Imagine PS, which can seat up to four people, is the brainchild of Charles Greenwood, an engineer who has been working on developing the perfect human-powered vehicle for more than 40 years.
With all four people cranking, the vehicle can travel on human power alone, but it also has electric battery power for when there are fewer passengers.
It is started by just a few hand cranks backwards and forwards and the company behind it says a senior citizen in reasonable shape should be able to manage it easily.
Mr Greenwood began working on human-power cars in 1968 as a way to tackle polluting exhaust fumes and the unhealthy bodies of many drivers.
It is capable of climbing hills at 30mph and can accelerate to 60mph on flat terrain.
Eco-friendly: Mr Greenwood takes one of his prototypes out for a spin
Handy: When the car goes on sale next year, priced at £10,000, it will feature an all-weather roof, touch-screen display and GPS
Enterprising: Mr Greenwood has been working on human-powered cars for more than 40 years
The Imagine PS is expected to go on sale next year costing £10,000 and the company says it has already received 100 pre-orders.
An all-weather roof is being developed for the commercially available cars and models could also feature a touch-screen display with GPS and biometric data logging, sound, computer and communications systems. Air bags are also a further addition to later models.
Production on the cars, which are now street legal, will begin when the company has 800 pre-orders.
Mr Greenwood said HumanCar is independent and 'essentially profitable now'. He added it has a 200-year business plan which includes taking human-powered cars to the developing world, along with other products such as a two-person mobile power station that folds into a suitcase.

On ONE wing and a prayer: The heart-stopping moment a stunt plane snapped apart mid-air

Sheared disaster: Left, Dino Moline's RANS Air Brigade plane can be seen upside down in the middle of a manoeuvre 1,640 feet in the air. Right, a split second later, the plane lurches as the wing snaps off
This is the terrifying moment a pilot nearly lost his life after the wing of his plane snapped off mid-air.
But Argentine pilot Dino Moline managed to activate the plane's ballistic parachute - walking away from the crash with just a burnt foot.
The 22-year-old was performing in an air display in Santa Fe, Argentina, on August 15.
Miracle escape: Quick-thinking Mr Moline deployed the plane's ballistic parachute. He crashed to the ground in a ball of flame - but managed to walk away with just a burnt foot
The 3,000 onlookers could only watch in horror as the wing snapped off his RANS Air Brigade Plane 1,640 feet above the ground - while it was upside down in the middle of a manoeuvre.
The plane began to spin dangerously out of control.
But Mr Moline managed to dodge death by deploying the parachute, which slowed his sickening fall to earth.
The plane crashed to the ground in a roar of flames, but Mr Moline escaped alive with minor injuries.
'I don't know what happened to me,' he wrote on the website for 'Show Aereo 2010.
A photographer at the scene captures an image of the plane as it spirals to the ground
'I believe it was metal fatigue.
'I felt an explosion. I saw a shadow passing to the side of me - it was the wing.'
In what surely qualifies as the understatement of the year, he added: 'I saw fire inside the plane and I despaired a little.
'My foot got burned but I'm fine.'
The plane, according to an Aviation News website, is made in the U.S.
It is sold in components and sold to buyers to put together themselves at home - a detail that could give further insight into the crash.
It is not known if Mr Moline's plane had been modified at all.

Whoops! BBC weatherman causes a storm after making rude gesture live on air

By Daily Mail Reporter
Stormy times ahead: Tomasz Schafernaker makes a rude gesture to his off-camera colleagues
Here is the forecast: An outbreak of offensive gestures, followed by severe embarrassment, with the possibility of thunderous words from the boss.
BBC News Channel viewers saw weatherman Tomasz Schafernaker brazenly sticking his middle finger up at breakfast show presenters Simon McCoy and Fiona Armstrong, who were off-camera.
Prior to the gaffe, caught live on BBC News 24, anchor McCoy seemed to gently poke fun at Schafernaker by saying: 'Now we will have the weather forecast in a minute and of course it will be 100 per cent accurate and provide all the detail you can possibly want.
... before realising he has been caught on live TV
'I've just seen Tom Schafernaker preparing for it.'
At this point, the camera pans to the Polish-born weatherman, who reacted to the sarcastic tone by sticking his middle finger up before suddenly realising he is on camera.
He then proceeds to try to disguise the blunder by scratching his chin.
A gasp can be heard before McCoy quips: 'There's always one mistake. That was it.'
This is not the first time Schafernaker, 31, has found himself in hot water.
Amused: Simon McCoy and Fiona Armstrong try to hide their shock at Schafernaker's gesture
Last year he stumbled over his words and forecast a 'muddy sh*te' for the Glastonbury festival.
He was also forced to apologise in 2007 after referring to the Outer Hebrides in the Western Isles of Scotland as 'nowheresville.'
In May 2008 a clearly unimpressed Schafernaker tore his earpiece out after proclaiming 'Well I don't know if I'm on air or not so Gary over to you.'
Recovery: Schafernaker gets back to work after his on-air gaffe
A BBC spokesman said: 'Tomasz was not aware that he was on air, and whilst the gesture was only shown for a second, it was not acceptable.
'The News Channel presenter live in the studio acknowledged a mistake had been made, and we apologise for any offence caused.'
Ed Taylor, a spokesperson for Ofcom, said there had been no complaints about the incident.

Jennifer's journey from teen to A-list shows she's mastered the art of self-presentation

By Simon Cable
With her big hair and beguiling smile, the young actress shows a hint of the star quality that will one day make her a household name.
But 20 years on, Jennifer Aniston shows how she has truly mastered the art of self-presentation.
The 41-year-old star looked far more groomed and glamorous at the premiere of her latest film than she did as a 21-year-old aspiring ingenue.
Now and then: Golden-haired and well-groomed at 41, left, and a casually-dressed Jennifer aged 21
She showed off her tanned and toned figure on the red carpet on Monday in a short, strapless pink and black Lanvin dress.
Her hair was sleek and straight, with the addition of the golden highlights that inspired thousands of imitations during her days in the television series Friends.
By comparison, her 21-year-old self appears plain and dowdy in a photograph from 1990 - the same year the actress got her big break with a part in the television version of 1986 film Ferris Bueller's Day Off.
Casually dressed in a loose grey shirt with messy hair, the young Miss Aniston lacks the poise and panache she has acquired in the intervening decades.
Different styles: While Jennifer was promoting her movie in LA, Angelina Jolie was at the London premiere of Salt in a sparkling gown
In her new film The Switch, Jennifer plays Kassie, a single woman who is desperate for a baby and decides to have artificial insemination to fall pregnant.
Her best friend Wally (Jason Bateman), who is in love with her, drunkenly switches the donor sperm with his own, and doesn't tell her.
Jennifer admitted that she still wishes for a family of her own.
Besties: Jennifer and co-star Juliette Lewis looked like great pals as they cuddled on the red carpet
'Yeah, I have said it years before and I still say it today,' she said. But will she turn to the 'turkey baster' method, like Kassie?
'I don't have plans on that, no,' she said.
But speaking to Entertainment Weekly recently, she hinted 'I'm on the verge of it in some way... it's something I long for.'
When asked on the red carpet if she had heard from conservative talk show host Bill O'Reilly, who said recently that her comments about women not needing a man to have a baby were ' destructive to our society', Aniston reportedly smiled and shook her head.
Blue beauty: Actress and rock star Juliette kept the red carpet interesting with some very bright blue hair
The perfect family? Jennifer with her co-stars Jason Bateman and Thomas Robinson

And while their relationship has only just become public knowledge, the couple have been secretly dating for months.
Toohey changed his Facebook profile to 'in a relationship' two months ago, putting a snap of him cuddling up to Jenny as his profile picture.
The two have also bantered on his wall.

In a relationship: Toohey announced the news to his 451 Facebook friends
Jenny and her then-boyfriend Jim Carrey announced the end of their long-term relationship via Twitter in April.
Carrey, 48, shocked fans by posting: ‘Jenny and I have just ended out five-year relationship.
'I’m grateful for the many blessings we’ve shared and I wish her the very best! S’okay!’
She replied: 'I'm so grateful for the years Jim and I had together. I will stay committed to Jane [Carrey's daughter] and will always keep Jim as a leading man in my heart.'
Jenny has moved to Las Vegas for the next month with eight-year-old son Evan, and has been exploring hotspots including nightclub Vanity, where she was pictured with Toohey, as well as the infamous Chucky Cheese funhouse.
She said recently: 'My house is under construction.
'I needed a place to live. So I said, "Why not rent a house in Vegas because I love it?"
'It's a small town inside of Vegas. Everybody knows each other. It's kind of wild. Everyone's really friendly.'
